Eco-friendly Luxury

Today’s luxury homebuyers are keeping an eye toward the marriage between exceptional style and a decreased environmental impact.

Several notable trends have emerged in the past several years in the Beverly Hills real estate market: extensive outdoor kitchens, spa amenities in bathrooms, state-of-the-art security systems, and remote access that allows homeowners to control nearly every mechanized aspect of their homes from anywhere in the world. While these upgrades are worthwhile and certain to turn heads, luxury real estate buyers have also begun taking special note of homes that have been built or renovated with the environment in mind. Many home builders and noted designers specialize in these enhancements.

Buyers and renovators need not sacrifice luxury for environmental friendliness. Gleaming wood floors made from sustainable materials like bamboo or even cork are gorgeous, and also represent less of an environmental impact than other, hardwood options. Kitchen and bathroom countertops can be created from a wide variety of sustainable and recycled materials with an end result every bit as eye-catching as less environmentally-sound options.

Other eco-upgrades are happening behind the scenes, but are still attractive in the modern Beverly Hills real estate market. We are seeing more solar energy upgrades, water saving features built right into landscaping systems, and high-end appliances that meet strict environmental requirements.
